The Laslett Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to The Laslett on Pembridge Garden, you immediately get that “I’ve found something special” feeling. This five-star boutique hotel sits on one of those gorgeous white-stucco Victorian terraces that make Notting Hill so photogenic — you know, the kind you see in movies. The entrance is understated but elegant, and honestly, that’s exactly what you want in this neighborhood. No flashy signs or doormen in ridiculous uniforms, just pure London sophistication.

Location & Neighborhood

The location is absolutely brilliant — I mean, couples rate it 9.6 out of 10, and I totally get why. You’re literally a two-minute walk from Notting Hill Gate tube station, which puts you anywhere in London within 20 minutes. But here’s what I love most: step out the front door and you’re surrounded by the pastel-colored houses of Notting Hill, those incredible antique shops on Portobello Road (Saturday market is unmissable), and some of the city’s best gastropubs. The area feels residential rather than touristy, so you get that authentic London neighborhood vibe.

The Room Experience

The room experience here is something else — and I’m not just talking about the design, though that’s gorgeous too. What really impressed me was the attention to comfort. The beds are genuinely exceptional (the hotel gets rave reviews for this), with Egyptian cotton sheets and pillows that somehow manage to be both supportive and cloud-like. Each space feels more like a luxury apartment than a hotel room, with thoughtful touches like Bamford bath products, vintage books scattered around, and these beautiful botanical prints on the walls. The kitchenette areas in some suites are actually functional too — not just for show.

Dining & Amenities

The ground-floor restaurant and bar area has this wonderful lived-in elegance that feels very Notting Hill. It’s the kind of place where you’ll see locals having business meetings over coffee alongside hotel guests planning their day. The food focuses on modern British cuisine with a seasonal menu that actually changes based on what’s good at the markets. There’s no formal spa, but honestly, you don’t need one — the neighborhood has some excellent day spas within walking distance, and the hotel can arrange treatments in your room if you prefer.

Why Guests Love It

What strikes me most about The Laslett is how many people come back — the repeat guest rate here is notably higher than most London hotels, and that tells you everything. It’s not trying to be the flashiest or most Instagram-worthy place in the city. Instead, it nails that sweet spot of luxury and authenticity that’s surprisingly hard to find. You get impeccable service without stuffiness, a prime location without the tourist chaos, and rooms that feel like a stylish London home rather than a generic luxury box. The parking situation is handled well too — they have arrangements with nearby facilities, which is no small feat in this part of London. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel like you’re living in London rather than just visiting it.
